Our doctors Mark T. Bentley DDS, Dr. Chuck Stevens and Dr. Julie Jones as well as our staff of 23, recently held our annual Gift of Dentistry Day This is our fourth annual event as Gift of Dentistry Day started in our office in 2008. The emphasis of Gift of Dentistry Day is to treat people in dental need, who have no means to pay for the service. The office was opened at 6 A.M. and by afternoon we had completed 35 extractions, 37 dental cleanings, 33 fillings, and other treatments with a total of over $16,000 in free dental care.
The patients on this day are referred to the event by many churches, local hospitals, and organizations, such as The Family Abuse Center, Family Connection of Miami County, Goodwill, Habitat for Humanity, Partners in Hope, Salvation Army, The Miami County Council on Rural Services, The Miami County Department of Job & Family Services, The Buckeye Home and Compassionate Care of Sidney to name a few. No one in need is turned away. It is always an emotional experience for both the patients and the caregivers.

“Gift of Dentistry Day gives me a chance to give back to the community
of Miami County and surrounding areas by donating my time to assisting
those who come in. Many are in need of dental care but simply haven’t
been able to afford it due to the current economic downturn. It’s a
rewarding feeling to know that we may be helping someone out of pain who
couldn’t have otherwise received treatment, or that someone who wouldn’t
normally get a chance to, can leave with that wonderful feeling of
clean, smooth teeth after a cleaning. It’s fun to serve with my fellow
employees knowing that everyone is giving of their time, and it means a
lot to know that each one of them is sacrificing time with their
families or time they could have used to get other things done in their
lives but instead they are choosing to serve others, and that warms my
